I had a great question around ‘networking’ tips so it started me off on the road of TED talks and books. I love TED talks but generally to supplement a book. The whole process encouraged me to reflect on the books that have altered my perspective and made a lasting impact over the last 20 years. There are many more skills related ones but these altered my perspective. What are your favourites?
The very first book on self-development I read back in the early 1990s. Whilst ‘old fashioned’ it’s still very relevant. I recently suggested it for a client in their 20s.
The Art of Possibility by Rosalind & Ben Zander.Love this book. Have re-read it a number of times. It alters your mindset about ways of looking at things.
A New Earth: Awakening to your Life Purpose by Eckhart Tolle.
One of my favourite books on the list. Definitely hard to get started but seeing Eckhart go through it chapter by chapter with Oprah helped me. I’m sure it’s on a download now.
Buddha’s Brain: The practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love & Wisdom by Rick Hanson.
At one time I read a lot of Dan Siegal (Mindsight and more if you look him up) and neuroscience. All wonderfully enlightening. However, this book does a fabulous job of merging neuroscience fundamentals and meditative practises. Loved the key points at the end of each chapter. It's easy to read too.
The whole ‘chimp’ thing got some bad press because of sky cycling team and his work with the England football team however it’s a great concept. In the words of a professional snooker player; ‘this book is fantastic...I have worked with many people to try and help me......in my opinion nothing has come close to how this book explains things….the book really does offer simple but effective ways on how to really improve your life’ - Ronnie O'Sullivan. I remember it so it worked!
My latest purchase! This is pulling together many strands of interest over the years. Really enjoying it. He shares how you can transcend the limitations of your past-including health challenges-and, quite literally, create a new body, a new mind, and a new life. Big promise but this information is thrilling, life changing, and incredibly practical. Mind, Body, Soul work.
‘A unique experience, spiritual and restorative retreat supporting the body, soul & mind’ – Nicola, May 2018
‘I gained so many things, space to think, breather etc. Reconnect to me. Development of intentions, connection to others. Thank you’ - E. Williams June 2017
'I enjoyed the extroardinary environment and wonderful women. The space, time and opportunity. The peace and tranquillity. The fun’ - July 2017 participant
'You won't believe how well the magic has lingered! I have been kayaking, swimming and singing and that's only the start! Thank you again - feel alive again.' - KH. July 2017
